Other recommendations would be an Italian style or pepperoni style seitan. It’s got the bacon’s spicy smokiness and fries up beautifully. For this sandwich, I went with my house favorite style: seitan chorizo. Seitan sausagesliced into bacon-like planks is the perfect way to add that umami. If you’re going to be vegan or vegetarian, you’re going to have to live without the taste of bacon, plain and simple! Besides, there are a host of better ways to prepare non-meat proteins to sub for bacon and add umami to a breakfast sandwich. I most often see it being used in vegetarian or vegan recipes as a way to add smoke flavor to fake bacon. It adds an overly chemical fake smoke taste regardless of concentration. Secondly, JUST NO! Yes, I am well aware that liquid smoke is a somewhat natural product made from distilled wood smoke vapors, but that does not change the fact it is a shitty ingredient. I stand firmly against those who claim they can make vegetarian/vegan “bacon” by using liquid smoke. Usually, it’s chicken or sausage, but as I now always have some form of seitan on hand, I decided that would make the perfect fried protein compliment. As I never have bacon in the house, I am always looking for something to sub in for the protein. Like my previous breakfast sandwich, this is a riff on a traditional NY-style BEC (bacon, egg, and cheese). But Rob Reiner’s film is all about the journey, not the destination. The next day, they head off for adventure, walking along the railroad tracks to find the body and become local heroes. When the pudgy scaredy-cat Vern (played by an unrecognizable preteen Jerry O’Connell) overhears some older kids talking about a dead body they saw a few towns over, he shares the secret with his three best buddies (Wil Wheaton, Corey Feldman, and River Phoenix). Based on a Stephen King novella, the film tells the sepia-tinted story of four childhood pals destined to go their separate ways one day, but who, for now, in the summer of 1959, are bound together for what feels like an eternity of campfire tales, pinkie swears, and debates about whether Mighty Mouse could beat up Superman. He pulls us, lures us in, and weaves his magic around us. Having so many threads running through these issues, Byrne makes every page worth reading. With the proper writer, any villain can become an A-lister. What I love about this collection is the fact that Byrne takes Michellini's better ideas (which are hard to find since his Armor Wars issues are practically devoid of any memorable moments) and makes them into a proper story, complete with a newly powered Living Laser. As Byrne forces Tony into dire straits with some aggressive corporate warfare, he sets up later arcs by following the Mandarin in his megalomaniacal pursuit of power in China. John Byrne and John Romita Jr had the greatest Iron Man run in the last 30 years. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We will get to the other two options in a future. Of these, the String.format () method is the most commonly used, so we will be covering it in this Java programming tutorial. You can use the String.format () method, the printf () method, or the MessageFormat class for formatting strings. Rather than make this tutorial any longer, here’s a link to a Java (Java printf) example. There are three primary ways to format a string in Java. However, if you’re interested in just printing formatted strings to system output or system error, there are and methods that are very similar to the String format method. Note that I keep using the log.debug method in these examples for a reason, specifically that I want to show this String format method. Using String.format with multiple variablesįinally, here is an example of how to use multiple variables with the String format method: If it helps to see the format method used without the additional log.debug method, here’s an example where I use the String.format method to assign a similarly formatted String to another String: Java ‘sprintf’: assigning a formatted String to another String The value of that decimal comes from the variable that follows my string, in this case the RENAME_SUCCEEDED variable. The %d symbol is a placeholder that indicates that a decimal value (something like an int or long in Java) should be printed in place of this symbol. But, if you’re not familiar with this syntax, what happens in the line of code above is that the %d in my Java String is replaced by the value of the variable RENAME_SUCCEEDED, which in this case happens to be a constant in my class. If you’re familiar with the sprintf function from other languages like C, Perl, or Ruby, this syntax will look familiar. Here’s a quick example of how to use the String.format method to format a string before I pass it to a Log4J log.debug method: Log.debug( String.format("%s is %d years old, er, young", "Al", 45) ) įor more information on those examples, see the sections below. format a string with multiple variables (interpolation) String status = String.format("The rename status is (%d)", RENAME_SUCCEEDED) format some text and assign it to a string Log.debug( String.format("The rename status is (%d)", RENAME_SUCCEEDED) ) One way to format Java string output is with the format method of the String class, which works like a “Java sprintf” method. The following program shows some of the formatting that you can do with format.Java String formatting FAQ: How can I format Java String output? Solution Example: As you can see from the example above, the Formatter instance is created and then linked to StringBuilder.
